Coordinator of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Sociocultural Consultation and Interpretation Services
Marie Serdynska is the Coordinator of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Sociocultural Consultation and Interpretation Services, responsible for equity and social inclusion education, and interpreter recruitment and training. She was co-chair of Canadian Consortium for Health Equity (CCHE), and of the First National Transcultural Health Conference. After obtaining her B.S.W. with Great Distinction from McGill University, Marie joined Head and Hands as a youth counselor, educator and group facilitator exploring youth issues through theatre. With the YWCA, Marie counseled and hosted cross-cultural parenting groups for young families, using creative forms such as dance, theatre and poetry to demonstrate social issues. In addition, she coordinated an International Development Education initiative identifying global issues in health, literacy, food security and strategies for ‘unlearning racism’.
