The N4 team had the pleasure to attend Metropolis Social Determinants of Health Conference and get the chance to connect with thought leaders, innovators, and frontline workers in the Canadian healthcare system to discuss the social determinants of health and work towards a healthier, and a more equitable future.
Despite the heroic endeavors of frontline workers throughout the pandemic, the Canadian healthcare system faltered under the strain. Transitioning from a pandemic to an endemic phase, we persist in rectifying the vulnerabilities laid bare in our system. COVID-19 disproportionately affected racialized individuals, low-income populations, and other structurally disadvantaged groups. These challenges, heightened during the peak of the pandemic, persist into the present day.
We had a diverse group of delegates at the event, each bringing unique perspectives and insights from their experiences during the pandemic. The discussions were engaging, and we were encouraged to ask questions and brainstorm strategies to improve public health equity, knowledge, and trust. It was a collaborative effort to explore ways to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system. Looking forward to seeing positive changes emerge from these discussions.
Finally, we would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Metropolis team for organizing an impactful conference.
