Tapping Canada’s Hidden Healthcare Talent Pool: Tips and Tools to Recruit and Retain International Experience
N4 has published a report and accompanying toolkit with resources, promising practices, strategies, and tools to support the recruitment and retention of internationally educated health professionals (IEHPs) into Canadian health care organizations.
IEHPs improve Canadians’ access to care and enhance the diversity of our health care workforce through their valued international education and experience – a key asset to health care employers across sectors and provinces. In order to be successful, IEHPs require additional supports towards integration in their workplace and their communities.

Featured Webinar
Equity in Hiring and Retention of IEHPs
Over the next three years, Canada will welcome 1.45 million newcomers, primarily in the skilled immigrant class. Newcomers bring diverse skills and experience and cultural and linguistic talents with them into the workforce. However, systemic barriers and bias within job postings and interview processes create unfair disadvantages for newcomers preventing entry into the workforce. This webinar will provide guidance to organizations seeking to welcome newcomers into their workforce by applying an inclusion and equity lens. Participants will identify bias within their organization’s hiring practices and learn tools and strategies they can apply to incorporate equity into hiring processes.

Refugees possess a wide range of valuable skills and expertise in professions like medicine, engineering, software development, and various skilled trades. And yet, despite having marketable talents, many refugees find themselves in countries where they don’t have the right to work locally and are locked out of skilled migration pathways. Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) is building a world where displaced people can safely migrate for work and fully realize their skills to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. Founded in 2016, TBB’s mission is to help refugees who have talents that are in demand in the global market find employment opportunities in countries where their skills are sorely needed.
