On the 25th and 26th of October, N4, WES, and AIMGA hosted the "Building Collaboration on Program and Policy: A National Convening of ITP-Led/Serving Organizations." This event brought together internationally trained professionals (ITPs) and healthcare specialists to drive essential discussions on improving licensure pathways in Canada.
The convening provided a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, identifying challenges, and unifying efforts. Attendees explored the current landscape of supports and services, examining both existing successes and ongoing barriers ITPs face in accessing licensure. A major focus was on policy advocacy, with participants collaboratively determining priorities for future action to create a more efficient and equitable licensure process.
The insights gained will fuel ongoing collaboration across our organizations to advocate for meaningful policy changes. This event marks a critical step forward in strengthening supports for ITPs across Canada and will help shape the pathways that lead internationally trained professionals to rewarding careers in Canadian healthcare.
We’re grateful to all who participated and contributed to this impactful event, setting the stage for continued progress toward a fair and inclusive healthcare workforce.
