The Internationally Educated Health Professional (IEHP) Access Hub at the University of Manitoba is seeking partnerships with existing organizations that support internationally educated health professionals (IEHPs) looking to gain licensure and practice in Manitoba. If your organization provides support to IEHPs at any stage of their registration journey, the Access Hub would like to discuss opportunities for collaboration, including featuring your organization on the Access Hub website to promote access to your support.
The IEHP Access Hub’s vision is to build connections and pathways for IEHPs of various professions to enter practice. The Access Hub is hosted at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and is funded through Canada’s Foreign Credential Recognition Program.
The IEHP Access Hub directly supportsthe following six health professions:
- Audiology
- Occupational therapy
- Pharmacy
- Physiotherapy
- Respiratory therapy
- Speech-language pathology
Each of the provincial regulatory bodies for these six professions sits on the Access Hub’s Advisory Committee, along with a representative from the Fair Registration Practices Office of Manitoba, University of Manitoba educators from the above professions and IEHPs with lived experience becoming registered and practicing in Manitoba.
The Access Hub facilitates connections to general resources that support all IEHPs wishing to settle in Manitoba, ranging from settlement, language, financial and employment supports. The Access Hub’s homepage can connect visitors to dedicated pages for the six supported professions, as well as links to general resources available.
The Access Hub currently has contact with several IEHPs who are seeking mentorship and experience in a professional practice setting. Their current stage in the process ranges from starting document evaluation to preparing for their exams and completing their internship/practicum hours. The Access Hub can be reached directly at IEHPAccess@umanitoba.ca and (431) 279-2689.
