From all parts of the N4 network over the past few months, we’ve heard that supporting Afghan newcomers and access to interpretation services are priorities for our members. More recently, our members have also shared the need to connect, learn and collaborate around welcoming Ukrainian newcomers to Canada. N4 has recently launched several tools to support these efforts:
- Afghan Resettlement Toolkit: Compiled by a multi-sectoral working group convened by N4 and hosted on the N4 website, with resources to meet the needs of providers in healthcare, settlement, education and other newcomer-serving sectors.
- “National Standards for Healthcare Equity: The Case for Provincial Interpretation Services”: This position paper was drafted by a multi-sectoral working group convened by N4, and can be used to call for system-level change around interpretation services throughout Canada
- Ukrainian Resettlement Toolkit: This brief toolkit provides some context about the current crisis in Ukraine and will assist providers in helping newcomers connect with the Ukrainian Canadian community and understand the immigration options available to them.
We’re excited about a few other professional development opportunities and initiatives coming up in April – stay tuned!
- Supporting Internationally Educated Health Professionals (IEHPs): N4 has been asked to address the barriers for IEHPs in filling gaps in the healthcare labour market. N4’s existing network, staff, expertise and infrastructure will support intersectoral stakeholders to connect, learn and collaborate in optimizing the employment of IEHPs.
